Hi everyone,
As promised, here’s an update on my implementation of the PSJailbreak exploit : IT WORKS!
I made a video to show you, but I suck at making videos, so we can’t really see what’s going…ย I’ll do a better one tomorrow.
It’s 9:30 AM here, and I really need to go to sleep, I’ll post more about this tomorrow, and I’ll release the code tomorrow for everyone to enjoy, compile, contribute, read, laugh at, etc…
So here’s the binary release of PSFreedom (thanks to xnt14 for the name) :ย PSFreedom driver
I would like to thank 3 people in particular who helped me, encouraged me and helped debug with me : NTAuth, philhug and phire (a.k.a phiren) from EFNet.
So here’s how it works.. download the .tar.gz, extract it, copy the files to your n900 (with scp, into /root), then ssh into your N900 and type : ./psfreedom-enable.sh
Then you can follow the usual procedure, unplug the PS3 from power, plug in the N900, connect the power to the PS3, then press power and *quickly* press the eject button… Then just let ย the magic happen!
Once you’re done or want to revert back to the normal operation mode of the N900 (or to charge it) run the command ./psfreedom-disable.sh
In the future, we’ll have a nice package to install, a GUI application, I’ll make use of the LEDs ย to show you the status of what it’s doing, and i’ll have it auto-revert to mass storage mode, so you can use your N900 not only to enable homebrew but also to store your homebrew!
See you tomorrow! Good night!
KaKaRoTo
Does it work on the N-gage?
Thank You very much. Installed and working ๐
Awesome! thanks for crediting me. ๐
Does it work with the stock kernel?
Yes, just follow the instructions, no need to flash the kernel or anything other than running the script.
Thank you for your hard work Kakaroto !
I will test on Nokia 770 with HackerEdition in a few hours…
Yeeeehaaaaa!
great work, but
no source? ๐
i was hoping to be able to compile it for a galaxy s phone
@Ltwp.. he said he will post the source.. wait!

Great work!!!
Please port this for other symbian such s60v3 ors60v5!
Great work!!!
Please port this for other symbian such s60v3 or s60v5!
Shouldn’t it then be possible for me to run a virtual machine on my osx,
assign an usb port to it, connect this port to the ps3 and then run the command on the vmmachine?
I’d rather have this option then, i will try it when i have the time,
i’ll keep you updated
Is it possible for somone who knows what theyre doing to port this to the psp?
uhm just a moment
n900 is a phone with linux
a this point hack work with oll pc with linux preinstalled?
why you don’t release the source of ko kernel module?
Great!
Much appreciated!
Hope we can see an iphone version too….
gud jod… but work so it can run on the ipod touch or iphone
Would love to see this on the n810 or older devices. GOOD JOB and keep it up…:D
on debian it says:
failed to install psfreedom module ๐
Thats work perflectly thx you very much
hello the backup manager works to run backups ?thanks
Hi
Great job! Congrat!
Is there a chance that you compile the module for the latest kernel?
This is the showed error:
insmod: error inserting โpsfreedom.koโ: -1 Invalid module format
Come on guys. He did a really great job, but don’t ask stupid questions because you don’t know sh*t about the technical background.
It’s a kernel modul yes. But its not usable on a PC or Mac because you only have a USB Host Chipset there. Its impossible to connect this Hardware directly to the ps3. Its only usable for Phone or Devices like the n900 and maybe portable for Android devices because of linux gadget base. iPhone is a complete other story. You have to start from the beginning i think. because you need to use another library.
Again congratulations and thx for sharing this with the open source community.
_awesome_ work, just waiting for the source to port it to android ๐
I know someone is working on a port for psp any chance you can give them a hand =) sucks I dont have a n900 ๐
Hi,
Nice work !
Can you please publish your code so we might be able to build it for servral platform ๐
Looking forward your reply
Ps think next time to stripp your bin before publishing ๐
license=GPL v2

Hi,
How much of the source is Nokia N900 specific? Are you using the Linux USB Gadgets library?
awesome! i hope this wil be out for the iphone one day too that would be grest …good work keep it up!!
Is there any way to make this work on a n800?
Please STOP ASK!! They will make for iphone, psp and ETC. Just leave them alone and say thank you. They will make for iphone, psp, and many more. Be patient!!!
Congrats! Really nice work!
hm my backup manager loads only the game disc not the backup ๐
@prolike, take a look here: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=61669
There is patched version that allows playing backups.
would this work on an old Nokia 770 tablet too? mine has been collecting dust for years.
Please make one for N95 8GB
Now if someone could take his source code and port it over to the N810 that would be great.
I gave this a try in a fat PS3 (80 GiB HDD model), and could not get it to work. My guess is that the culprit is having firmware 3.15, or having Linux installed (or both?). I can provide the kernel log messages from the N900; if that would help just drop me a line.
Even when this is not working for me, congrats for the good work. I took a look at the code and looks very interesting. I didn’t think that the in-kernel USB gadget stack could be so powerful! ๐
Cheers,
thanks for the efforts.you should create this stuff for iPHONE 2g , 3g ,4g too.
Amazing job! Make it for GalaxyS!! lol
This is a linux port to PSP:

I wonder if this N900 patch could be applied to the above…

So possibly with this could you say run it on other phones running Linux?
Like the Palm Pre? Good work man, I’d love to see more of this even though I don’t have a Nokia N900.
