Hi,
I’ve got some great news for those of you who have not updated your PS3 firmware! I have just succeeded in adding Firmware 3.01 support into PSFreedom. I’ve pushed the latest code to github and you can now download the source and compile PSFreedom for 3.01.
For now, you will need to edit config.h and change the FIRMWARE_3_41 into FIRMWARE_3_01, then recompile. However, I will soon add support for dynamically choosing the target firmware version by simply doing a :
echo 3.01 > /proc/psfreedom/fw_version
I will soon add support for firmware 3.10 and 3.15, so be patient, and you will be rewarded. I would like to thank Klutsh as well as Philippe Hug who helped me achieve this port to 3.01.
The new payload changes are available in the PL3 github and any project/port that is also using PL3 should automatically gain support for the 3.01 firmware.
You will also be able to enjoy some new ‘tools’ in PL3 that will allow you to dump the LV2 kernel as well as the decrypted ELF files of the XMB and other configuration files it uses. The ethernet dumping is also now compatible with PS3 Slim models.
Update:
Philhug and I have worked together recently to make PL3 compatible with 3.15, and it is now done, working and ready for you to use. I have just pushed the latest changes to github, so just update both PSFreedom and PL3, and define FIRMWARE_3_15 in PSFreedom’s config.h and recompile. You will then be able to enjoy your unrestricted PS3 on 3.15 firmwares. Enjoy!
Update 2:
I have just added support for firmware 3.10 to PL3. You can get it by upgrading to the latest git version of PL3. There are however some changes in there that might break PSFreedom, so wait until I update PSFreedom tomorrow to be compatible with the latest PL3 changes!
I have also added a HOWTO file that explains the steps required to port PSFreedom to an exploitable firmware. Enjoy
I would like to thank, again, those who have donated. For the others, you can still donate, if you appreciate the work I’ve done.
Enjoy!

Compiled and tested new 3.01 payload on a 3.01 FAT 60gb console… doesn’t work! black screen… 🙁 What could be wrong?
Give the friend, we in you trust, we wait 3.15. Almost we do not pray on you
Awesome news!, and congrutulations for the achivement.
I’m waiting a release for the 3.15 FW, and I would like to port it to symbian, I’m not a developer, but I trust that reading maybe I could do something, so thats the reason.
Good job! and thanks to all people who make this posible, specially kakaroto for begining with all these PSFreedom thing.
See updated article.. 3.15 FW is now compatible.. enjoy!

Please make one for 2.80! Some people are still on 2.XX fw!
@Sibs: I can’t make one for 2.80 without having a 2.80 machine … that’s the only reason i won’t do it for lower firmwares…
Hi man, I’ve successfully compiled newest psfreedom code for Nokia N800 but I am not able to run games with Backup Manager v1 nor with version 2. Also tried new Open Backup manager but didn’t success either. I think PL3’s payload is not compatible with that or I am doing something wrong ? Could you give me some hint pls ?
I see there was bd_emu.bin payload in previos version and I suppose this one with BD_EMU support and peek&poke code is that default_payload_3_XX.bin, isn’t it ?
Thank you very much

@shamot: no, it’s not bdemu compatible… but it should be fairly simple to patch.. edit the pl3/default_payload.bin and look for ‘.string “psfreedom!”‘ and replace the string with “/dev_bdvd”
@kakaroto: thank a lot. I will try immediately 😉
@kakaroto:please compile for psgroove ps3breal atmel, sorry in spanish 🙂
@kakaroto: great, works, thanks again
@shamot: Pleaseeeeee port psgroove for my ps3break atmel, thanks
Wow Great work!!! I see in other posts that you are able to use ethernet to try and “bruteforce” address’ on ps3 startup any luck in 3.42 or 3.50 brute forcing attacks or has this “jig” implication been patched in these firmwares??
what about payload with backup bluray disc? to free space in ps3 hdd, when need delete and load a game anytime, thanks.
fw emulation with a 3.15 dump possible?

Thanks Kakaroto! how can I compile it [3.15] for the N900?
What are you using to compile this? I’d like to get this working thanks.
I’ve modified PSGroove to make use of KaKaRoTo’s PL3 payloads. I tested my fork of PSGroove on a 3.41 and 3.15 PS3 with an AT90USBKEY with the default payload. If you try it out, please report back with your results! http://github.com/jevinskie/psgroove
@jevinskie: Works great on my Teensy 2.0 on a PS3 running 3.15. Thanks for the port.
Also, many thanks to KaKaRoTo and philhug for getting this working on 3.15 in the first place. I was almost ready to update to 3.41 last week, but figured that I’d give it a few more days. I’m glad that I did.
One thing I’d like to point out, in case anyone tries to compile PSFreedom/PL3 on Mac OS X 10.6 is that doesn’t exist on it. Just replace the references in the tools/dump_*.c files to with and all should compile just fine (assuming you have a PPU toolchain and any other requirements needed to build the stuff). I think technically is non-standard at this point (as I don’t believe its listed in the C99 standard at all).
Anyone know how to jb 3.15 from a droid?
Even if someone could just tell me what additional files I need, and what to edit in the .ko I could probably figure it out.
Pleaseeeeee port psgroove for my ps3break atmel, thanks
my ps3 is 3.01…
@kakaroto thanks again man, can you please tell me how to compile this [3.15] for the N900?
Hello KaKaRoTo! Thank Ypu for your good and helpful work!
I’ve got FAT PAL 60GB PS3 with 3.15FW, and it really breaks by my n800 with PSFreedom and PL3 for 3.15.
Because of my PS3 had working OtherOS installed (ubuntu 10.04) and had PS2 games software emu support, can i help you with some of this files? To help port OtherOS and PS2 emu features on slim units and/or up to 3.41FW?
I can give to you access via internet to blackb0x ftp on my unit, or send to you any files from my PS3 on demand.
Thank You!
@goshil can you tell me how to compile it for N900? I have installed ps3toolchain and I tried make, but I don’t know how to get a .ko module, I’ve a Fat NTSC 60 GB and I’m willing to help with otherOS too..
@lktwo no problem! You must “git clone” PSFreedom, then “make” in it’s directory. But remember, that you need diablo-kernel (current n900 kernel?) sources for compilation with n900 patch. After yo’ve got sources of PSFreedom and n900 current kernel sources, you can “make”, and .ko module appear.
I do this for n800 following this, n900 HOWTO, modified for Palm Pre: http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65355 . It’s strange, but i haven’t found orig n900 HOWTO.
@lktwo, after 15-seconds googling i’ve found this HOWTO: http://psfreedom.com/wiki/Nokia_N900#Compile_using_kernel-power_.28titan.27s.29_maemo_kernel
http://www.ps3hax.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=429&page=3
can u create me a psfreedom.ko for the n900 pls?
power kernel pls
I don’t have the power kernel, so i’m not going to compile for it..
For now, I still have a few plans for PSFreedom, and once i’m done (soon), i’ll make a 1.1 release of PSFreedom, then build it and provide binaries to the 1.1 version for various platforms… my suggestion is to either compile it yourself, or be patient.
mhh okay can u create the jailbreak for the normal kernel ?
Like I said, once I release 1.1, and like I said, be patient.
